Status of IEEE1394/SBP2 kernel bugs?

There are quite a large number of bugs in bugzilla about
FireWire/IEEE1394/OHCI1394/SBP2 problems in Shrike:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?product=Red+Hat+Linux&version=9&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=REOPENED&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&long_desc_type=anywordssubstr&long_desc=FireWire+IEEE1394+OHCI1394+SBP2&Search=Search

especially in relations to kernel-2.4.20-18.9, most of which are owned
by Arjan but are still listed as New, rather than Assigned. Most of
these have had no response from Red Hat. Is Arjan on holiday, or on sick
leave or something? I posted a bug on this over two weeks ago, and would
at least have thought it would have been assigned by now, or had some
response from Red Hat.

FireWire was working in Shrike for me until the upgrade to 2.4.20-18.9,
and now rebooting into 2.4.20-13.9 gives uneven results. Given that an
update from Red Hat broke this, is it reasonable to expect another
update to fix it again, or am I going to have to try and fix this
myself? (I really don't want to have to do that - kernel patching,
configuration and compiling is an art form I have never mastered and am
somewhat too busy to now.)

Best, Darren
