Evolution-1.4 was released today and I wonder what I have to do to upgrade Evolution-1.2.2 on my RH9 box to Evolution-1.4.
So, does anyone know what are the new features in 1.4?
A while back, i used to install Ximian Desktop on all my Red Hat systems. That would be a way to get Evo-1.4. But nowadays, when RH started to offer a decent desktop, i didn't find enough reason to do that anymore.
I installed Ximian to resolve system rpm denendacies. It worked out pretty decent. They also have a program that is similar to gnorpm to manage all of ther programs.
In short. Evolution 1.4 works with the 2.5.70 kernel. The check dependacies restored my system to full functionality. BEfore that, it had a lot of problems with mostly redhad-config-thisorthat programs and the GUI portion of up2date. They work now.
Evolution didn't look much different than it did in the earlier ximian days. I really didn't look too deeply into it though.
I haven't added a new user account but with the existing accounts, nothing seemed to change. Unless you count evolution is now listed under office applications.
