Hello there,

Been trying tto connect to the net with a US Robotics 56k USB modem.
I'm not sure which /dev/usb/<device_file> it works on.

None, it's a Winmodem that doesn't work under Linux. See:
http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=1929

It depends on how recent the model. I used to have my 3 Com/ USR
Faxmodem Pro (external) work with linux... and IIRC, even *with*
the usb cable.

He might want to have a look at this, also:
www.usr.com/search/search-results.asp?query=what+modems+work+with+linux&search.x=46&search.y=9

HTH & cheers,

Elton ;-)

thanks for the response...... mine is an external usb 56k Faxmodem. Can u mail me the module
or the source driver. i can try compiling it with my kernel.
I had searched the usr.com but could find driver only for an ADSL usb modem.
also please tell me which /dev/usb/<device> it works for.
