usb-storage: after unplug still attached scsi device

Hi all,

after unmounting my usb-storage device I unplug this. But there is still
a scsi device attached to the system. I also get the following in
/var/log/messages

----8<----
kernel: Device not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the drive.
kernel: sdb : READ CAPACITY failed.
kernel: sdb : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08
kernel: Info fld=0xa00 (nonstd), Current sd00:00: sense key Not Ready
kernel: sdb : block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size 1GB.
kernel: sdb: I/O error: dev 08:10, sector 0
kernel: I/O error: dev 08:10, sector 0
kernel: unable to read partition table
devlabel: devlabel service started/restarted
----8<----

Is it neccasary to run any other command then umount before I can unplug
such devices? You see, it was attached as sdb. This is because sda is
"blocked" by another usb-storage device. I unplugged this other device,
and now my second is on sdb.

I hope you can help.

TIA
