I would guess that you have apt for redhat 8.0

There might be another rpm processes running (ps -A|grep rpm) or your not 
root. Why don't you use jre-1.4.1? You can download a version compiled with 
gcc-3.2 from blackdown.org. It works with the RH8.x rpm of mozilla 1.3 with 
gtk2 and xft support
