I just installed mail server on RedHat 9. Pop3 server is answering very slowly, sometimes it needs around 20 seconds to answer. Once when it answer it works fine. It is called through xinetd. Following is set:
log_on_success += HOST DURATION log_on_failure += HOST
Any ideas ?
I would guess that IP address lookup is very slow. How long to "host 195.89.159.51" take? It might take a few seconds the first time, but should be more-or-less instant after that.
