MySQL Problems - /usr/libexec/mysqld

Hi,

I'm having trouble with mysql. Up until now it's worked totally fine,
and I haven't changed anything.

when you do:

#/usr/libexec/mysqld

you get

030430 13:07:44 Can't start server: Bind on TCP/IP port: Address already
in use

030430 13:07:44 Do you already have another mysqld server running on
port: 3306 ?

030430 13:07:44 Aborting

030430 13:07:44 /usr/libexec/mysqld: Shutdown complete

I can however use a

#mysql -uroot -ppassword

and get in and run queries...

/sbin/service mysqld start says it starts ok, but when you stop or
restart it says stopping faled. PHP also can't connect to the database.
What's going on here?

Thanks in advance,
-Michael
