It really would help if you told us what resolution you have the screen
set to. I take it that the display is *usable* so go to System Settings
-> Display and tell us what it says under "Resolution". As I said
before, the screen is almost certainly intended to only be run at one
particular resolution, either 1400x1050 or 1600x1200.
