How about this, can you please include the section of your fstab 
containing your cdrom devices and a directory listing via "ls -l /mnt/ >
/tmp/mntlisting.txt" or however you want to list the directory contents.
Also ANY errors you may be getting via /var/log/messages

This info would help to diagnose your problem considerably better.
