I have a problem with Java on shrike: I downloaded Sun's 1.4.1_02 build of the development kit. (Also tried 1.3.1_07 and blackdown's version). The Java code in question ran fine on psyche (and still works on a Solaris boxes). I suspect that the problems are due to the NPTL changes in the kernel. Hopefully, there is some workaround (export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL doesn't work), or different build somewhere.
