Maybe that's grub and not the kernel or "shrike". I don't see that in my
dmesg log at all...

Hrm, I've been running my Shrike Athlon XP 2100+ system just fine for
many days now. Not had any stability or random lockup issues with, even
whilst using "evil" binar-only NVidia drivers ;) EPOX 8KHA+ motherboard.
