Ok, ok. Now I see what people were alluding to when they were harassing
<g> me over my comments about Gentoo's performance gains. I have
installed and used prelink on my RHL9 system, and it has improved the
"snappiness" *significantly*. Between this and the NPTL changes (which I
blame for the general smoothness I now feel over my old 7.3 system), I
am enjoying almost exactly the performance of the Gentoo system that
took me a week to get set up.
