I did indeed get this to work, in a fashion, I patched the kernel with
the acpi patch from 20021212 for the 2.4.20 kernel since the 2.4.21-pre3
patches do not want to compile with the redhat patched kernel (which is
patched with the 2.4.21-pre3 patch).
