I suspect that RH supports EXT3 because they devoted significant resources 
toward its development and, in their business model, it is what they choose 
to support (and it's _their_ business). They do provide "unofficial" support 
for ReiserFS as a root partition, just not in LVM mode for updates, it 
appears.

As a consumer, I would prefer to see broad support for different filesystems 
so I could choose "the right tool for the job". Since filesystem design (or 
any design for that matter) seems to be one of compromises, I suspect that 
EXT3 may not be the best filesystem in _all_ cases.
