I'm running 8.0.94 ( yes, I know this is the beta release ... ) :

$ tar xfz Mail-SpamAssassin-2.52.tar.gz 
$ cd Mail-SpamAssassin-2.52
$ perl Makefile.PL 
Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
Writing Makefile for Mail::SpamAssassin

$ make
...

and Mail-SpamAssassin builds.

Does the pod2man need to be installed?
