Yes it can, but only if your /etc/fstab entry is set up to allow it.
You need to include the "user" option where you probably now have
"owner". In addition, you probably want to include "nosuid" and
"noexec".

You may have to eliminate the "kudzu" option, to prevent the entry
from being destroyed and recreated with default options when you
reboot.
