the kernel has nothing to do with this actually.
The kernel has a stable userspace interface in a backward compatible way
(eg new interfaces can be added, but existing ones remain).

glibc will use some "new" interfaces, which are  added to 2.2.0 kernels
or so.... nothing to worry about.
