NIC Problems

Using Redhat 8.0 and I am running into problems with my internal lan.
Current setup is that I have a 4-port Adaptec 6944TX interface. Two of
the ports are on a 10.2.0.0/16 network and another is the internet. It
seems that occasionally the forwarding interface 10.2.1.1 goes to sleep.
After a period of time (very short) if the users try to hit the internet
the request times out. If I have them use the ipconfig /renew command and
then go to the net it works. I have updated the kernel, the tulip drivers
and the dhcp software to the latest releases, and nothing.

Any ideas?
