I too still have some old network cable in use and have (I think) two D-Link DE-528 cards in service.
I checked one of those boxes. In /etc/sysconfig/hwconf it shows:
class: NETWORK bus: PCI detached: 0 device: eth driver: ne2k-pci desc: "Realtek|RTL-8029(AS)" vendorId: 10ec deviceId: 8029 subVendorId: 1186 subDeviceId: 0300 pciType: 1
