The problem is not in that you can't use the i386 glibc, it's that
the upgrade from i686->i386 package doesn't work right (and yes,
we're fixing that.)

In short, from rescue mode (or whereever), remove /lib/tls and /lib/i686,
(from the old i686 glibc), and the i386 glibc should work fine.
