Help building custom kernel

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

First, I'm pretty much a Linux newbie and this is the first time I've ever
attempted to build a kernel.

I just got kernel version 2.4.20 from www.kernel.org and I'm having a very
difficult time building it. I found I needed to rebuild the kernel to
support Multicast routing/forwarding so I initially started by following the
directions on building a custom kernel from RedHat's site. No matter if I
try to build it using 2.4.18-27.8.0 (already running on my box...used make
xconfig to enable multicast stuff) or 2.4.20 I get to the point that I do a
'make install' and it gives me an error about aic7xxx not being there so the
make install won't complete.

How do I fix this?
