This isn't help on how to upgrade, but... If you use wine, or CodeWeavers CrossOver Office or Plugin, you may want to wait a bit before upgrading. The recent glibc errata update breaks wine. I'm guessing Red Hat 9 will have the newer glibc, which will also likely break wine. (Which by the way will stop being included with Red Hat 9, according to the Release Notes.)
