My /etc/ld.so.conf is 0 bytes (empty) and time of
creation of the file
is about time I ran Sybase rpms... is any chance to
restore old file?

So I assume the libraries that are being looked for do
not really exist.
Check /etc/ld.so.conf to make sure it is correct.  Also
libraries are
searched based on the environment variable
LD_LIBRARY_PATH .
