Actually, it should be a BroadCom 4401 (10/100 Mbps)
The gigabit controller is optional.

The output of lspci should help:
# lspci | grep Ether
00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4401 
(rev 01)

I have this board and the controler works fine if you compile the driver 
included on the CDROM that comes with the board.

$ ls /mnt/cdrom/Drivers/LAN/4401/Linux/
RELEASE.TXT  bcm4400-1.0.1.tar.gz

If you need help building the driver, let me know.

I can also make the compiled module available for the last several Red Hat 
kernels, if you need it.
