I am attempting to upgrade the kernel via up2date, so this should not
even be a problem. But when I try to install it manually, I get the
following error message:

error: Failed dependencies:
        ppp <= 2.3.15 conflicts with kernel-2.4.18-24.8.0

As I stated before, the version of ppp that I have is 2.4.1-7. Any
ideas?
