You can install the rpms from the rawhide distribution onto a RH8.0
system. You need a few extra rpms to get it going. This is what I
installed about a month ago:

   kernel-bigmem-2.4.20-2.2.i686.rpm
   modutils-2.4.22-1.i386.rpm
   mkinitrd-3.4.33-1.i386.rpm
   kudzu-0.99.83-1.i386.rpm
   hwdata-0.62-2.noarch.rpm

The version numbers may have changed now. You also probably don't want
the bigmem kernel.
