I had come to the same conclusion and have a script in cron.daily with /usr/sbin/ntpdate -vs chimer.unt.edu otc1.psu.edu ntp0.cornell.edu time.nist.gov clock.sgi.com /usr/sbin/setclock Thought I would watch it for a few days then clean it up a bit.
