It is:

  rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__*
  
And to be safe:

  rpm --rebuilddb
  
Then try again:

  up2date --nox samba-swat

Btw, that may be a work-around known for a long time on this and
similar mailing-lists. But it is a severe problem (a real nightmare
in addition to dependency hell) for many users outside these lists
who don't know what the cause of these RPM lock-ups is and who
cannot believe that there hasn't been a fix released yet. Makes me
sick when newbies (or simply, Linux users who don't know a different
work-around) advise others to reboot their machine in order to
correct this.
