Can't make NTP work

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

  I've been struggling to make NTP actually set my clock on 8.0 (first
time I've used it). I've done a whole ream of different things after
asking for help on comp.protocols.time.ntp, but no joy.

  Even simplistically, with the RH-shipped ntp.conf, in the RH date
config. utility, when I try to tick the 'NTP' box reports that it can't
get a reply and maybe my firewall needds checking - but I tried it with
the firewall wide-open for the host I listed (and double checked - no
logged dropped packets, and ethereal shows NTP UDP stuff coming in OK).

  I also get the following (same host) out of ntpdate (but I couldn't
say for certain what state the ntp.conf was in at the time, so that may
have affected this test):

$ sudo ntpdate -d ntp.cis.strath.ac.uk
