Hi Oli, I installed 7.3 and 8.0 on a Tecra 8000 from cd and nfs. Never had any problems except for getting the sound going. Check on www.laimbock.com and search for tecra and you will find an article describing how to get it going. I did have to use boot floppies as booting from cd doesn't work on my Tecra. If you have more questions I'll be happy to try and answer them.
