On your own box, issue the following:

xhost +xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

where the x's indicate the IP of the box you want to receive the X stream
from.

On the remote box, do:

export DISPLAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0

where the x's indicate your own IP

A good idea to issue:

cat $DISPLAY on your own box first to double-check whether you need :0
or :0.0 for the export command.
