Your looking for the Red Hat rpm build tree: $ ls /usr/src/redhat/ BUILD RPMS SOURCES SPECS SRPMS It is created when you install the rpm-build package. $ rpm -q rpm-build rpm-build-4.1-9 The package you installed will put the source files in /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES and the specfile will be in /usr/src/redhat/SPECS If you want to build packages from source, you should be doing it as a non-root user, in your home directory. I have a script to created the required directory structure and install ~/.rpmmacros and ~/.rpmrc files if you want to do that. It's here: http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/hacks/rpm_environment.tar.gz Installation instructions are here: http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/hack.html > Now to get really crazy. If I'm correct what do I do? Your rpm database is probably the problem. This should clear it up, as root, run: rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db* rpm --rebuilddb - -- - -Michael pgp key: http://www.tuxfan.homeip.net:8080/gpgkey.txt Red Hat Linux 7.{2,3}|8.0 in 8M of RAM: http://www.rule-project.org/ - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+AnM5n/07WoAb/SsRAiZ9AJ9Dz2HPrH8ifpZpfruiJ7aCy7jExACgtZPC SuyacbjTfURkzrB/Z+2VpDU= =4zdh -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Psyche-list mailing list Psyche-list@redhat.com https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list
