There is now a stated release cycle of 6 months for 8.x at http://www.redhat.com/software/whichlinux.html They also briefly stated a beta cycle of 6 months (AS) / 10 weeks (8.x) on the same page but they seem to have de-stated it now. Anyway there are early signs of development of the next beta on rawhide, and the above figures mean you can expect a beta probably in the middle of January.
