I use cp ....I've tried with other version (Valhalla) just works fine but not
with Psyche ... Same result under Xwindow. (GNOME, KDE)

got the message, says:

hdc: command error: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 550692

hdc is my cdrom drive
I try to scan the disc, but there's no error

There's a problem with CDROM reading mechanism in RH 8.0.
I tried to copy a 90MB file from CDROM to my harddisk running RH 8.0 but
it didn't work

No mounting problem... the drives can read the files using ls command

I'm using 2 drives (hdc and hdd) with scsi hd. 1 drive is cdrom only and
the other is cd-rw..

How did you try to do the copy? Drag and drop in a GUI file manager, command
line cp, or what?

Here is the result of doing this on my computer with the Psyche documentation CD mounted in one of my drives.

[gerry@gstpc gerry]$ ls /mnt/cdrom
about.html figs LICENSE readme.txt RPM-GPG-KEY
autorun index-en.html online-resources.html RedHat SRPMS
css index.html README RH-DOCS TRANS.TBL
[gerry@gstpc gerry]$ cp /mnt/cdrom/index.html /tmp
[gerry@gstpc gerry]$ ls /tmp
index.html kde-root orbit-gerry [gerry@gstpc gerry]$

This may not be of much help, but you can see it is not a generic problem. Are you using /mnt/cdrom as the name of the directory you are trying to copy from?
