Trouble installing PHP-4.2.3...weird error.

Hi all,

I'm really new to this list, but I have not seen this in the archives here before....."help me psyche list, you are my only hope."

I have been trying to get Apache2 to play nice with mysql and php on my RH8 system.

I created my system from the *everything* install.

I installed and attempted to get running php, mysql, apache and the Komodo 2.0 IDE for php/perl/etc....

In the process of "learning," I updated my php to 4.2.3 (from the patched 4.2.2 in the dist.) to turn on some of the switches that I wanted (--enable-debug and others) and also the feeling of comfort one gets with building/"learning"/rebuilding an installation. This worked fine with Komodo too as I simply had TWO seperate instances of php running on my system.....both pointed at the same php.ini file. Everything seemed fine until I tried to make my Apache2.0 php and my seperate php the same entity.

Here's what I did....

I configured the 4.2.3 switches/path-info the same as the original 4.2.2 (I got the settings from phpinfo()) and compiled.

Build went fine until time to "make install"....when I got this error:.....

/make[1]: Entering directory `/home/danny/PHP/php-4.2.3'

/usr/lib/httpd/build/instdso.sh SH_LIBTOOL='/usr/lib/httpd/build/libtool' libphp4.la /usr/lib/httpd/modules
sh: line 1: /usr/lib/httpd/build/instdso.sh: No such file or directory
apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=8323072
