RE: rebuild /var/lib/rpm/Packages ?

I don't think you can rebuild your rpm database as there is no other way to
know what is
installed :(. I can only suggest you in future move files to another
location instead of
deleting them, until you see that everything is working. Try googling for
some undelete 
utilities .
