This is odd...I did a where is for mpg123 and mpg321 and didn;t find either one, yet when I tried this command with a file (Shady Grove, Bill Monroe) I got this:
[tony@lamachinafina tunes]$ mpg123 -s shadygrove.mp3 | oggenc -r -o shadygrove.ogg -
bash: mpg123: command not found
Encoding standard input to
         "shadygrove.ogg"
at quality 3.00

Done encoding file "shadygrove.ogg"

        File length: 0m 00.0s
        Elapsed time: 0m 00.1s
        Rate: 0.0000
        Average bitrate: inf kb/s

[tony@lamcahinafina tunes]$

I found that odd--command not found, yet the job was done...
Now, will it convert to .wav so I can burn it to disc with XCDRoast?
Lemme see and get right back to you...
Hmmm...I replace oggenc with wavenc and it said comannd not found...
I have been trying to burn .mps files to disc since 7.2 without success...
Any suggestions? Will xmms burn to disc from ogg?

Tony
