Transport Endpoint Error on Laptop

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I have just installed RH 8.0 on my Tosh Portege 2000, I use it to test
Apache / FTP / DNS etc whilst traveling on the train. Unfortunately I am
finding this difficult as everything is extremely slow.

apache takes 4 mins to start, and then I receivee timeouts from the
browser, telnet to port 80 works, but is again extremely slow.

ftp is worse, it takes 7 - 10 mins to connect and then I recieve a
warning: can't get client address: Transport endpoint is not connected

This all seems to work whilst connected to the LAN at work, sso I'm
guessing it's something to do with how either DNS or the network is set
up. (Already checked /etc/nsswitch.conf)

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Neil.
