This is bad...We are all taking part in a community where we HELP each
other. It is a beautiful thing, but nobody OWES anybody support, so we should always be grateful for anyone who attempts to assist us, whether they are helpful or not. We should not insult each other, nor take offense if someone gives advice that is seemingly too basic. In fact, I always appreciate those who do not assume that I know everything. I suggest that you take a deep breath. I hope you two can apologize and be nice. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything...at least not on these lists.
I, and I believe many others here, can understand how frustrating a broken systtem can be, especially when you rely upon it for necessary functions, but, please, let's not take our stres out on each other.

I know, I know, but I am impatient to resolve all conflicts.
I didn;t really expect anyone to reply to ALL of my issues, and want you
to know, Craig, that your assistance is DEEPLy appreciated.

Hmmm...It seems I would benefit from an understanding of how to kill processes.
I have struggled with this before. At this juncture, I believe that I need to kill sound record, or something. When I try to play anything on XMMS I get a "something else is using teh sound car" message. I have noticed that the mic is on. I can speak into it right now and hear myself ramble on the copmuter speakers. (Odd, don't you think?"
I had been playing with sound record last night a bit...I love that program.
I record poems for my students that way. Beats the peawaddies out of M$ record program that won't allow you to record more than a minute and half.

I understand that this command has replaced /sbin/rhn_regitser.
RH should have noted that in the documentation in the box and online.
I have gotten up2date to work, thanks Craig and Jerry.

It was at the xmms.org site. Do I need to recompile the player or something, perhaps?

I prefer KDE--I know, bloated, etc...but I am, afterall, converting from a spoiled gui user on (I am ashamed) windows.

Hmmm...I had been signing into terminal as root, then opening Kate.
nut this makes sense. Or what if I sign into KDE as root in the first place, then could I use Kate? (very easy for an ignoramus like myself--heck, my BA is in English..and my Masters-in progress-is Library Science...)

Aha! Perhaps the problem is that I installed it as a user int he first place.
Listen...has anyone seen my brain around here? I seem to have misplaced it.
