MySQL help

Hello everyone,

Well this is my problem. I have a Psyche box that I want to use for web
developement purposes. So I installed PHP and MySQL. My trouble is that I can't
get MySQL to start with a user other than root. Just to make sure I have it
right, after I do the install from the CDs I would go and run the
mysql_install_db? But I just read a section that said if you installed via RPM
then it should send everything to where it needs to be, including a startup
file in the appropriate place. But if I do a ps -aux |grep mysql, I get
nothing. Can some please help me as to what it is I gotta do, please?

TIA
