I'll help test that :)

one test I did was -march=i386 v/s -march=athlon
with -mcpu=athlon both times. On cdrecord.c from the cdrtools
package, I see this difference

i386                     athlon
fxch    %st(1)           fxch    %st(1)
fucompp                  fucomip %st(1),%st
fnstsw  %ax              fstp    %st(0)
testb   $69, %ah         ja      .L231
je      .L231


and again later, with a different jump target
