3Com 3CR990-TX-97 NIC not detected during install. Supported?

I have installed RH8 several times now and it has always detected the
NIC card (some required updated drivers later but it detected them).

Now I've hit a system where RH8 doesn't detect the NIC card at all.
(the system, as is, was operating fine under W2K so I know hw is working).
The system is a MSI 694D dual PIII VIA based system.
It is fully populated (adaptec ide raid, adaptec scsi, sound blaster
live, tv board, etc.)
but so was the last one I installed (although that was an Intel ms440gx
with dual Xeon).

Does anyone know if the 3Com 3CR990-TX-97 10/100 PCI NIC is supported in
or with RH8?

If it is supported, should I just install without NIC detection and
updated later somehow?

I have installed 3Com driver updates before but am concerned that the
install will skip a lot I need to have configured (and don't really want
to do by hand if I can help it).

Thanks
