You do! "readcd" from the cdrecord package. Start it and enter:
 
  11 <RETURN>
  n <RETURN>
  disk.out <RETURN>
  <RETURN>
  <reduce total number of sectors by two> <RETURN>
  <RETURN>
    
This will avoid the I/O errors upon reading the ISO image.
