Definitely doable, but IMHO is not a good idea.  The time spent 
resolving all of the problems would be better time spent 
upgrading to a current OS release.  Trust me, been there and did 
that, and I have 3+ years maintaining the package.  It's not 
worth the time and effort.

However, YMMV...
