Hi all. I've been tracking Mike Harris' experimental XFree86-4.2.1 builds for awhile, and have been periodically rebuilding them for our rh73 and rh80 boxes. You're welcome to try them out too. You can fetch/install them via apt, by adding to /etc/apt/sources.list: rpm ftp://apt.unl.edu/apt/ 7.3 xfree86 or rpm ftp://apt.unl.edu/apt/ 8.0 xfree86 and you're an 'apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade' away. Else, you're free to download and install the items by hand: ftp://ftp.unl.edu/apt/{7.3,8.0}/RPMS.xfree86/ ftp://ftp.unl.edu/apt/{7.3,8.0}/SRPMS.xfree86/ Modifications from Mike's pristine sources/specfiles are: 1. an updated sis driver from http://www.winischhofer.net 2. minor specfile fixes to build on/for rpm-4.0.4/rh7.3 Standard disclaimers apply: I provide these packages as-is, as they are unofficial and unsupported packages. blah, blah, blah. Enjoy. -- Rex p.s. And before anyone bothers to ask, no, I don't plan on backporting/providing XFree-4.3.0 RPMS. I'll be using rh9 before I do that...
