Maybe your monitor will do 1600x1200@xxxx, but it won't sync on anything higher?
I'd suggest playing with these values:
HorizSync 30.1-95.1
VertRefresh 60.1-160.1

I tried this, but there is no difference; I connected the monitor,
mouse, and keyboard directly to the host and then powered up the
machine. The monitor won't sync with the card at 1600x1200 or
1400x1050. As I've mentioned before, the monitor *will* do 1600x1200
with my Matrox G200, so I'm confident this is not a monitor issue.

Any other suggestions?
