Thanks for the reply Mike.

Actually, the lower end of the Fire line costs about what the high end
home boards do I think ($300-$400). I realize that they aren't quite a
commodity item yet, but I wonder if at this price people would pay for
higher end boards that supposedly are optimized for openGL.

I remember paying $300 for my Radeon 64 VIVO when the first came out
(sigh --  the days of disposable income). If anyone other than me is
curious, I'll try contacting ATI and see what they say.
