I don't know what the mirrot driver is, but it sounds like you might be
talking about one of the RAID options.

Linux can be configured to use software RAID to write data to two drives
to provide instant recovery in the case of a failed drive.

In Linux, the two drives _can_ be in different computers, and subject to
network bandwidth requirements, they can be far distant from each other.
