Something like a mathlab or octave batch test might be more relevant. Or
even a simple, high-school level, mathematical app (like matrix
inversion or smth like that).

(I wanted to say a DivX encoder, but that already has assembler parts
optimised for CPU architecture, usually. Well, i guess the tests could
be refined indefinitely.)

Many would-be screenwriters seem to have the impression that they can
write a script based only on an idea. This is similar to the impression
that many had during the "dot-com" era that they could get venture
capital for an idea. (Many did, of course, but that's another story.)
