Developers DESPERATELY NEED to know about and feel the pain of people who have installation or configuration issues because it's primarily problems in installation and configuration that lead to project failures large and small. That said, things are generally getting better, in some cases _much_ better. Still, if you can't point the guy at the right place, maybe just listen. It's not like this list has hundreds of emails a day or anything. And, I assure you, if nobody answers his question, he'll go elsewhere.
